METEOROID, METEOR, METEORITES (‘METEOROIDS, METEORS, METEORITES’)

(‘A meteoroid is a sand- to boulder-sized particle of debris in the Solar System. The current official definition of a meteoroid from the International Astronomical Union is "a solid object moving in interplanetary space, of a size considerably smaller than an asteroid and considerably larger than an atom." Example; dust particles and rock fragments floating around in space.’)

(‘There are groups of astronomers presumed that the meteoroids are originated from asteroids or comets; the majority of meteorites are believed to be fragments of asteroids.’)

Meteor

Hujan meteor ('Meteor shower')

(‘When a meteoroid strikes our atmosphere at high velocity, mainly due to the gravity force of the Earth, friction causes this chunk of space matter to incinerate in a streak of light known as a meteor. Meteors are often known as 'shooting star’ or ‘falling star', which can be seen by the naked eye in a clear, cloudless night sky. If the meteoroid does not burn up completely, what's left strikes Earth's surface and survives impact, then it is called a meteorite.’)

(‘The root word meteor comes from the Greek meteōros, meaning "high in the air". Many meteors appearing seconds or minutes apart are called a meteor shower.’)

Hentaman meteorit dan membentuk kawah (‘Meteorite impacts and forms crater’)

(‘The impact of meteorites will create a meteorite crater, or 'impact crater'. There are a number of Meteor craters on the Earth's surface. One of the most recognised is the descriptively named 'Barringer Impact Crater' in Arizona, created 49,000 years ago when the Barringer meteorite (estimated to have been roughly 40 metres in diameter upon impact) slammed into Arizona at 11km/s, creating this 1.2km wide, 183 metre deep crater.’)

Meteorit (‘Meteorites’)

(‘Many of the planet and their natural satellites are covered with meteorite craters. However, the Earth does not have many meteorite craters since it is protected by its atmosphere.’)

KOMET (‘COMETS’)

(‘The word comet came to the English language through the Latin cometes from the Greek word komē, which means "hair of the head".’)

(‘Comets are sometimes called dirty snowballs or "icy mudballs". Comets are icy objects that release gas and dust as they orbit the Sun. It is thought that comets are material leftover from the formation of the outer planets.’)

(‘A comet is a small, icy celestial body that orbits around the sun. It is made up of a nucleus, a gaseous coma and a long tail. The tail develops when the comet is near the Sun. Its long ion tail of always points away from the sun. Comets are only visible when they're near the sun in their highly eccentric orbits.’)

(‘When they are near the Sun and active, comets have several distinct parts.’)

Komet dan bahagiannya (‘Comet and its parts’)

Komet dan bahagian berlabel (‘Comet and its parts – labelled’)

(‘Nucleus : relatively solid and stable, mostly ice and gas with a small amount of dust and other solids and sometimes other frozen substances such as ammonia.’)

(‘Coma: The coma is the roughly spherical blob of gas that surrounds the nucleus of a comet; it is about a million km across. The coma is comprised of water vapour, carbon dioxide gas, ammonia, dust and other neutral gases sublimed from the solid nucleus, caused of the nucleus is heated by the solar radiation. The coma and the nucleus form the head of a comet.’)

Ia semakin besar apabila komet menghampiri Bumi.
(‘Hydrogen cloud : Hydrogen gas surrounds the coma of the comet (very sparse envelope) and trails along for millions of miles (it is usually between the ion tail and the dust tail). The hydrogen cloud is about 10 million km across at the nucleus of the comet and about 100 million km long. It is bigger when the comet is near the Sun.’)

Orbit dan pergerakan ekor Komet (‘Comet’s Orbit and its tails movement’)

(‘Dust tail : up to 100 million km long and the dust tail is composed of microscopic dust particles that are buffeted by photons emitted from the Sun. This tail curves slightly due to the comet’s motion. The tail fades as the comet moves far from the Sun. this is the most prominent part of a comet to the unaided eye.’)

(‘Ion tail : A tail of charged gases (ions) always faces away from the sun because the solar wind (ions streaming from the sun at high velocities) pushes it away (it is also called the plasma tail - no colour but shining). When the comet is approaching the Sun, the ion tail trails the comet; when the comet is leaving of the Sun, the ion tail leads. The tail fades as the comet moves far from the Sun. The ion tail can be well over 100 million km long.’)

Orbit Komet ('A Comet's Orbit')

(‘Comets orbit the Sun in highly elliptical orbits and the orbit take them far beyond the orbit of Pluto; these are seen once and then disappear for millennia. Only the short - and intermediate-period comets (like Comet Halley), stay within the orbit of Pluto for a significant fraction of their orbits.’)

(‘Their velocity increases greatly when they are near the Sun and slows down at the far reaches of the orbit. Since the comet is light only when it is near the Sun (and is it vaporizing), comets are dark (virtually invisible) throughout most of their orbit. The solar wind pushes the tail away from the Sun.’)

Komet yang hebat (‘The Great Comet’)

(‘The most famous comet is called Halley’s Comet which returns to the centre of the Solar System every seventy-six years. Halley’s comet was last seen in early 1986, before that it seems to be appeared in 1910. It will not be seen again until its return in 2061.’)

(‘Besides that, Comet West appeared in 1976, Comet Hyakutake in 1996, followed by Comet Hale – Bopp in 1997. The first great comet of the 21st century was Comet McNaught, which became visible to naked eye observers in January 2007. It was the brightest in over 40 years.’)

ASTEROID (‘ASTEROIDS’)

(‘Asteroids are rocky and metallic objects that orbit the Sun.’)
(‘Asteroids, sometimes called minor planets or planetoids, they are smaller than planets but larger than meteoroids.’)
(‘They have been found inside Earth's orbit to beyond Saturn's orbit. Most, however, are contained within a main belt – known as Asteroids Belt that exists between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The total mass of all the asteroids, most of which is concentrated in the main belt, is about one-twentieth that of the Moon and about three times that of Ceres.’)

(‘Asteroids range in size from Ceres, which has a diameter of about 1000 km, down to the size of pebbles. Sixteen asteroids have a diameter of 240 km or greater. Although none is visible to the naked eye, many can be seen at times with binoculars or small telescopes, including the four largest: (1) Ceres, (2) Pallas, (4) Vesta, and (10) Hygiea.’)

(‘Some asteroids, such as Ceres, Pallas, and Vesta, are nearly spherical; others, like (15) Eunomia, (107) Camilla, and (511) Davida, are quite elongated; still others, such as (4769) Castalia, (216) Kleopatra, and (4179) Toutatis, have bizarre shapes.’)

(‘There are groups of asteroid that share orbit with larger planet. For example, Trojan asteroids, are a very large group of asteroids that share an orbit with Jupiter. Each of the Trojans are named for a hero from the Trojan War.’)

KEPERLUAN ASAS BAGI TUMBUHAN (Basic needs of plant)

‘Plant is a living thing. Plant needs ‘food’ to grow and stay healthy. This ‘food’ is call basic need.'

‘Basic needs of plant are water, air (carbon dioxide gas) and sunlight.’

Tumbuhan mendapatkan air melalui akarnya dan mendapatkan udara dan cahaya matahari melalui bahagian daunnya.
'The plant gets the water via the roots, the plants get the air and the sunlight via it leaves.'

'When the plant gets the basic needs in the sufficient amount, so that the plant can grow and stay healthy.'

'The following video shows about germination process of the seed. This process requires only water and air (oxigen gas). The roots appear initially and then followed by the shoots. The roots grow towards water source (stimulus - water positive) and the shoots grow towards sunlight source (stimulus - light positive).'
